The Solon Stars Swim Club offers training and
practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is
the goal of the Solon Stars Swim Club to offer age specific
training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each
individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR

Senior Elite: This
group consists of swimmers that have attained 3 events with
“AA” times in the 15-16 age-groups. This is our
highest group with the largest commitment asked upon
them. They do between 9-11 practices per week, and are
swimming at a high level either districts, zones, sectionals,
states, Junior Nationals, U.S. Open or Senior Nationals. To be
apart of this group you must be age 13 and up and have achieved
“AA” times in 3 different events in the 15-16 age
group, and have demonstrated good attendance in practice and at
meets. Coach’s discretion will be used in
selection to this group. There will be a commitment contract
signed by the swimmer and their parents to the objectives of this
group. You must be in the spring of your 8th grade year
to be considered for this group.
Senior group: This
group consists of High School age swimmers 13-14 and
above. This group does 6 workouts per week, and they are
developing the necessary skills and fitness to move up to the next
level. This group also provides a forum for those swimmers who
wish to maintain their interest and involvement in swimming.
Age Group
Elite: This group consists mostly of Middle
School age swimmers 11-12, and 13-14. This group does 8
workouts per week and this is the level were double practices get
introduced, and they are developing the necessary skills and
fitness to move up to the next level. To be apart of this
group you must be age 11 and up and have achieved “AA”
times in at least 3 events in the 13-14 age group, and have
demonstrated good attendance in practice and at meets. If you
are under 11 and want to swim at this level you must still achieve
“AA” times in 3 events in the 13-14 age
group. Coach’s discretion will be used in selection to
this group. You must be in the spring of your 6th
grade year to be considered for this group.
Age Group
Middle School: This group
consists of Middle School age swimmers 11-12 and 13-14. This
group does 5 practices per week with a focus on developing stroke
technique, improving training ability to get them ready to make the
move to the Senior Group.
Age Group: This
group consists mostly of swimmers in the 9-10, and 11-12 age
group. This group is for swimmers who will emphasize serious
training in preparing for the next level of swimming. This
group does 5 workouts per week for 1.5 hours a day. To be
apart of this group you must be age 9 and up and have achieved
“BB” times in at least 3 events in the 11-12 age group,
and have demonstrated good attendance in practice and at
meets. Coach’s discretion will be used in selection to
this group.
Age Group I: This
group consists of swimmers with age range from 8-12. This is a
transition group to help the swimmers moving up from Developmental
II get accustomed to training for 1.5 hours per practice for 5 days
a week. These swimmers will have further skill development
with an emphasis on developing stronger training
levels.
Developmental II
A/B: These groups are an introductory competitive
program for novice swimmers age range from 6-11, interested in
swimming year round. Emphasis is placed on teaching the
fundamentals of the 4 strokes, starts, & turns. This group
practices 3 days per week for 1 hour per session. The only
requirement for this group is stamina and ability to swim freestyle
and backstroke, and either breaststroke or butterfly also
wanting to swim 3 days per week.
Developmental I
A/B: These groups are an introductory competitive
program for novice swimmers age range 6-10 with limited
background. The emphasis is on teaching and developing the 4
competitive strokes, starts, and turns. This group trains 2
day per week for 1 hour per session. The only requirement for
this group is being able to swim freestyle and
backstroke.
Masters: This
group is designed for the 18 and over adult swimmer that
doesn’t swim college or H.S. and wants to train 3 times per
week and stay in shape and occasionally competes in USMS or USA
meets.
Sprint I: Is geared
toward the H.S. swimmer that wants to stay in shape during out of
season H.S. They will train 3 practices per week at the H.S. and
have the option of competing in USA meets.
All group changes are subject to the
coaching staff’s discretion. If we feel it is in the
swimmer’s best interest to move up or stay in the current
group, with explanation we will do this.
